Science Café 2008

KNME (PBS - northern & central New Mexico) presents a new kind of café, a SCIENCE CAFÉ. Six or more times a year, KNME will host a Science Café, at various locations. The concept is to show clips from an episode of NOVA scienceNOW or a comparable program, with an expert on that topic on hand to answer questions, and have an open discussion with the audience in a café style atmosphere. Take part - or listen to the discussion swirling around you. It’s fun, it’s casual, it’s laid back... The estimated number of attendees range from 50-80 people per Café.

How and why would humans want to travel around the world in a balloon? Join us for KNME's next Science Café at The Anderson - Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum, Saturday, July 19, at 10:00 am as we discuss circumnavigating the globe by balloon.

On July 19, watch "Danger in the Jet Stream," a short TV segment from an episode of the PBS national series NOVA. Then, participate in an interactive discussion.

An adventure that tests scientific ingenuity and individual bravery to the point of obsession. Then participate in a hands-on discussion with a noted ballooning expert. This Science Café is designed to be fun for the entire family. Parents and grandparents are strongly encouraged to bring their budding engineers and scientists along!

Troy Bradley owns and operates Skyspan Adventures and World Balloon in Albuquerque. He has flown hot air and gas balloons in 45 States and 12 Countries. He has made 3,150 hot air and 49 gas free flights with some 11,500 passengers.
