Governor Cargo was a maverick long before the term became popular, and this book is rich in New Mexico history and fabulous stories of the not so "good old days" when the schools in New Mexico were racially segregated and corruption ran rampant in state government.

Blackdom
Blackdom is the virtually untold story of Black pioneers Frank and Ella Boyer dream to create a “colony” for Black people in the prairie of Southeastern New Mexico. It was a community of 300 people, “The Only Exclusive Negro Settlement in New Mexico” as the official township letterhead stated. Blackdom existed in New Mexico from 1908 to the mid-1920.

EARTHQUAKES IN THE MIDWEST - Come to KNME’s Science Café, view a clip of NOVA scienceNOW, and then join in a discussion with Dr. John W. Geissman, Professor and Chair, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UNMe. Dr. Geissman will discuss the New Madrid Seismic Zone and its seismic risk and what seismic hazards exist in central New Mexico, as well as earthquake prone areas elsewhere in the western US.
