Rebecca Eaton, executive producer of MASTERPIECE, named to TIME's 100 most influential people list.
TIME magazine has named Rebecca Eaton, executive producer of the popular drama series MASTERPIECE on PBS, to the 2011 TIME 100, the magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Since taking over the helm of MASTERPIECE 25 years ago, Eaton has been responsible for such high-profile titles as Prime Suspect, Bleak House, Little Dorrit, and the recent hits Sherlock, the new Upstairs Downstairs, and Downton Abbey.

High school students learn about the many jobs in television and the skills required. Civic and social organizations gain an understanding of the television industry and how a program gets to your home.
Minimum age for tours is ten. Maximum group size is 25.

KNME BROUGHT THE ELECTRIC COMPANY TO NEW MEXICO AS PART OF THE YEAR-LONG KNME PBS KIDS RAISING READERS CAMPAIGN

Over 200 children from 5 area elementary schools, along with their families, had fun attending this free,
traveling tour experience, featuring cast member SHOCK.
The show included an interactive ELECTRIC COMPANY episode screening, a stage game, giveaways, and educational materials. This project is
funded by St. Joseph Community Health.

KNME PBS Kids Raising Readers Initiative is Launched - Year-long Literacy Campaign Benefits NM Children

The KNME PBS KIDS Raising Readers initiative is a yearlong literacy campaign designed to help pre-school children develop reading and literacy skills. The focus of the campaign will be children ages 2 to 8, with a special focus on children living in poverty. The First Lady of Albuquerque, Maria Berry, with a long history on working on literacy issues, will be the spokesperson for the campaign. This project is funded by St. Joseph Community Health. Over 100 people attended a special swinging "speakeasy" reception and sneak preview of Ken Burns' latest film, Prohibition.
The event held at Vernon's Hidden Valley Steakhouse. Guests put on their spats and fedoras and jumped back in time to the Roaring Twenties for this special night with KNME.thanks

KNME held a special Baseball night on August 18th. Staff from the Albuquerque Isotopes were on hand to partner with KNME on the BASEBALL night with the ticket offer. Plus a special visit from Orbit helped to bring in pledges. KNME gave an autographed Sandy Koufax baseball to the first person that pledged $500.00.

PUBLIC TELEVISION DAY IN NEW MEXICO
MARCH 1, 2011 PROCLAIMED "PUBLIC TELEVISION DAY IN NEW MEXICO" BY THE NEW MEXICO STATE LEGISLATURE
KNME/Albuquerque, KRWG/Las Cruces, and KENW/Portales -- the PBS stations of New Mexico -- were recently honored by the New Mexico State Legislature, who declared March 1, 2011 to be "Public Television Day in New Mexico."
KNME RECEIVES UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE GRANT
Thursday February 17th, 2011
KNME received a $39,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, as part of the Rural Utilities Services Fund.
This grant will fund fill-in translators in the Glorietta-Rowe and the Capilla Peak-Mountainair areas to upgrade KNME's signal in these areas.

KNME participated in UNM Day at the State Capitol on Monday, January 31st, 2011 with a special guest... THE CAT IN THE HAT. KNME highlighted PBS children's programs and KNME educational services throughout the day. KNME is the largest provider of preschool education in the state and trains hundred of parents, teachers and care providers each year by utilizing PBS children’s programs through the Ready to Learn Service.
