What is Ready To Learn?

A national and local commitment to ensure all children enter school ready to learn. The inititives include:

  • 7.5 hours of quality educational children's programming daily.
  • Programming aimed at parents, caregivers and childcare providers.
  • Free workshops designed to provide parents, caregivers and childcare providers with concepts and activities that foster literacy, early-childcare concepts and media awareness.
  • Childcare state licensing professional development credit
  • Free resources and materials available to schools, day care centers, parents and teachers that makes learning fun by using PBS children's programs.

The Ready To Learn initiative is a cooperative agreement of the U.S. Department of Education, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), PBS, and the Ready To Learn Partnership (RTLP). PBS member public television stations nationwide are important partners in the Ready To Learn initiative.

Between the Lions, Sesame Street, SUPER WHY, and WordWorld continue to be part of the PBS KIDS Raising Readers programming, and fun new shows are on the way!
