Coming up this week on NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS

Election season is officially in full gear, and that is definitely true in New Mexico's First Congressional District.

Heather Wilson is not running for re-election, instead opting to enter the race to replace Pete Domenici in the U.S. Senate. That means the race for CD1 is wide open, and the candidates are lining up for the chance to serve in the House of Representatives.

The next step in the race is the upcoming primary election in June. There are a total of six candidates running, four democrats and two republicans. This week on NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS, meet all six of the would-be representatives and find out how they would serve you in Washington. It's an Elect New Mexico special that you won't want to miss. Plus, don't forget to check our show website for more information on the candidates, as well as video of this week's web-only "On the Clock" segment with Gene Grant and THE LINE panelists.

I met Teague in Socorro last night at a hamburger fry.
I was disturbed to find out he is in the SAME ENERGY BUSINESS AS PIERCE.
Sure, he conducted a compassionate business providing health insurance for his employees and educating some of his employees worthy children.
I do not believe that he is the nut case that Pierce has proven himself to be.

But, I wonder about his commitment to our environment. He seemed evasive about drilling for natural gas on Otero Mesa or even for oil in Anwar. He said that these matters required further study. He seemed oblivious to the fact that that drilling for natural gas has already been proven to have contaminated the water table in Wyoming. How could HE NOT KNOW THIS WHEN DRILLING IS HIS BUSINESS?
I appreciate a policy wonk. He did not seem to have his positions crystal clear on health care, the war, women's reproductive health or equal pay. He needs to develop some clear stands on some of these issues or perhaps he is just not very liberal after all?
He did not have a comment regarding pit production at LA. He is supportive of technology transformation at LA to environmental and alternative energy technologies. He believes the tech transform will generate jobs.
Still, I think that Teague is a ringer for the energy industry and will promote more drilling.
Perhaps the REPS or rather the energy industry are hedging their bets trying to get and oil and gas man in office regardless.
I have not decided which Dem that I will vote for come this June.

Your show demonstrated a much BETTER candidate selection from the Democratic side than the Republicans had to offer for CD1. The Democrats had a more of a grasp on the issues while the Republican candidates seemed to have based their campaigns on one-gunmanship. Also the Republicans spend a LOT of time separating themselves from the George W. Bush DISASTER worst Presidential Administration in HISTORY… An Administration THEY SUPPORTED and helped get elected for 2 miserable terms that put this great nation at RISK both financially and security. I hope all New Mexicans will join me in the volunteer work I and others DO to turn NM from a Republican Red State to Democratic Blue.
